Rick Schupbach

Mr. Rick
Schupbach is the elementary physical education specialist at the Grundy Center PE4life Academy in Grundy Center, Iowa. During
his tenure at Grundy Center Mr. Schupbach has presented at numerous Physical Education conferences around Iowa and the Midwest.
In 1993 Mr. Schupbach was the author and recipient of a $5,000 grant to enhance the physical education program through
the use of technology. This was the same year he was selected as the Iowa Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.
In 1995, Mr. Schupbach was selected as one of six physical education teachers nationally to be featured on a video
to train college students to be elementary physical education teachers. This training video is entitled "Exemplary Teachers
In Action; Four Part Series."
In 2001 Championship Books and Video featured Mr. Schupbach on two instructional videos.
The first video is entitled "Creating a Climate for Success" which focuses on classroom protocols for physical education teachers.
The second video is entitled "Basketball and Rhythms” which features teaching ball-handling routines set to music. Also,
in 2001, Mr. Schupbach was instrumental in helping the Grundy Center Middle School High School obtain a $136,000 National
School Fitness Foundation grant, the first in Iowa.
In May of 2002 Mr. Schupbach was selected to help teach the featured
lesson, across from the White House as a part of National PE Day at a national Press Conference
In May of 2003 Grundy
Center Elementary, where Mr. Schupbach has been teaching for the past 18 years, was selected as the first Elementary PE4life
Academy in America and now provides daily physical education for students K-5.
Beth Kirkpatrick
With 20 years of experience teaching health and physical education,
Beth Kirkpatrick is nationally recognized for her renowned teaching methods. She has spoken at over a 1000 workshops and conventions
all over the world. Currently she is serving as the National Education Consultant for Polar Inc and is the Director of the
Grundy Center YMCA, which is located in the Grundy Center Middle School High School fitness center.
Beth has been

NASPE Teacher of the Year
Governor's Cup for Outstanding Secondary Physical Education Program (Iowa)
First physical educator to receive the U.S. Department of Education's Christa
